Industries / Environmental Remediation
Compliance software for environmental remediation contractors.
Brownfield, Superfund, PCB cleanup, contaminated soil, UST removal. The recordkeeping is the project.
The regulatory floor
- OSHA HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120). Worker training, medical surveillance, site characterization, site-specific health and safety plan, decontamination procedures, emergency response.
- EPA RCRA (40 CFR Parts 260-279). Hazardous waste identification, generator status, manifesting, treatment storage and disposal facility requirements.
- EPA CERCLA / SARA. Superfund cleanups, where remedial action plans, ARARs, and community involvement requirements apply.
- EPA TSCA (40 CFR Part 761). PCB cleanup and disposal.
- State environmental programs. Massachusetts MCP (310 CMR 40.0000), New Jersey SRRA, California DTSC, and equivalents in other states.
What we actually solve
1. HAZWOPER currency you can prove
Initial training, annual refresher, supervisor training. Nexus tracks each component per worker and blocks assignment when a worker lacks the credential a site requires.
2. The site-specific HASP lives where you can find it
OSHA HAZWOPER requires a written site-specific health and safety plan. Upload the HASP against the project; it's there for the field team and the inspector. Worker acknowledgment of the daily JHA captures their sign-on for the day.
3. Project documents in one place
Manifests, transport tickets, lab reports, sampling plans, and confirmation results live as documents against the project record. Structured manifest entities (generator/transporter/TSDF signatures) aren't modeled today; the signed paperwork lives as project files.
4. Daily field paperwork that doesn't fall behind
Pre-shift JHA, daily log, daily report, incident and near-miss reports. Mobile-first, so a supervisor can complete them on-site.
What you get
- HAZWOPER training tracked per worker with the source documents attached.
- Site HASP stored against the project, with daily JHA capturing worker acknowledgment.
- Project document register for manifests, transport tickets, lab reports, and sampling data.
- Daily field forms (JHA, daily log, daily report, incident, near-miss).
- Closeout PDF compiled from daily logs, JHA records, daily reports, permits, photos, and crew credentials.
What we deliberately don't do
- We don't write the HASP. Your qualified safety professional does; we store the version you upload.
- We don't model the conceptual site model. Your environmental consultant does.
- We don't replace your state e-filing portals. The project record holds the data; you file.
- We don't yet model structured manifests, sampling locations, or multi-phase parent/child projects.
Frequently asked questions
How does Nexus handle HAZWOPER currency tracking?
OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 requires 40-hour initial training for site workers, 24-hour for occasional workers, and 8 hours of annual refresher (with supervisor training on top where applicable). Nexus tracks every component as its own credential per worker, with renewal dates and source documents attached.
What about PCB work under TSCA?
PCB remediation falls under EPA's TSCA regulations (40 CFR Part 761). Nexus tracks PCB-specific worker training as a credential type and stores TSCA-required documentation against the project. Manifest data itself lives as project documents rather than as a structured manifest entity.
Can the system handle a multi-stage brownfield project?
A project is a single record in Nexus; we don't currently model multi-phase parent/child projects with separate budgets per phase. For staged work, most contractors create separate projects per stage and tie them with shared owner and site fields. Real phase modeling is on the roadmap.
