Asbestos Inspector
Also: AHERA Building Inspector
An AHERA-accredited professional who inspects buildings for asbestos-containing material, collects samples, and assesses condition. The basis for management plans and pre-demolition surveys.
An asbestos inspector is an AHERA-accredited professional who surveys a building for asbestos-containing material, collects bulk samples for laboratory analysis, and documents the location, quantity, and condition of any ACM found.
The inspection is the foundation for everything downstream: the school management plan, the pre-renovation and pre-demolition surveys that NESHAP effectively requires, and the scope of any abatement. Many states require an accredited inspector’s survey before a permit or notification will be accepted.
It is one of the AHERA accreditation disciplines, separate from the management planner and the project designer.
